Filbert D. Horner, 85, of Richmond, went home to be with the Lord at 12:29 a.m. on Saturday, February 13.
He was born in Wayne County, Indiana on September 8, 1935 to Harry L. & Edna May Beard Horner. He was a 1953 graduate of Whitewater High School.
Filbert married the former Phyllis M. Frame 66 years ago on June 6, 1954. They were blessed with four children. Filbert farmed for much of his life and also worked 34 years as an electrician at Belden. He was a devoted Christian husband and father and was a faithful member of the Centerville Church of the Nazarene and Gideons International. He enjoyed traveling and took many mission trips, including destinations as far away as Russia in 1998 and Alaska. Filbert had a pleasant gift for gab and loved to share stories with others
Filbert will be missed by his wife, Phyllis; daughter & son-in-law, Darla & James Chapman; sons & daughters-in-law, Neil & Shirley Horner, Vernon & Wanda Horner and Melvin & Diana Horner; grandchildren Jerimy, KraShawn, Kyle, Ashley, Rachelle, Chris, Brandon, Breanna and Brock; 18 great-grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Milford & Phyllis Horner.
Filbert was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leroy Horner.
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17 at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City.
Filbert’s family will celebrate his life at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Goshen Cemetery.
