E. Geraldine “Gerri” Gauker, age 99, of Richmond, Indiana, died Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Reid Health.
Born November 1, 1922, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Charles Henry and Eva May Taber Bowman, Gerri moved from Dayton, Ohio, to Richmond in 1945. She retired from the Palladium-Item in 1988.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Thomas) Rowe of Richmond; daughter-in-law, Linda Gauker; six grandchildren, Vikki Gauker (Paul Pringle), Wendy Caves, Michelle Mead, J.D. Mead, Karla Gauker, and Eric Gauker; six great-grandchildren, Jakob (Meagan) Pringle, Lukas Pringle, Jakquelyn Gauker, Bailey Caves, Michael Mead, and Nathan Mead; special step-grandson, Timothy (April) Hensley; nieces, including special niece, Judy Gilbert; nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Vern N. Gauker, who died April 3, 1993; sons, Jack G. Gauker and V. Michael Gauker (Faye Hensley); parents; sister, Betty Harper; and brothers, Charles and William Bowman.
There will be a private graveside service for E. Geraldine “Gerri” Gauker. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
