Dorothy Olive Branum, 96, formerly of Richmond, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter on Christmas Evening.
She was born July 2, 1925 in Darke County, Ohio to Joseph Henry and Marietta Johnston Anthony. In 1942, she married Chester Leroy Oler. Their union of 10 years was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Marcia and Brenda. In 1959, she married Curtis Leo Branum. They were blessed with 53 years of marriage and birth of a son, James.
First and foremost, Mrs. Branum was a homemaker who loved her family, and a caregiver. She formerly worked at Avco, followed by 25 years of service at Reid Hospital. In her retirement, she worked for Area 9 as a caregiver and then as a private caregiver until her final retirement in 2011 at the age of 86.
Mrs. Branum will be missed by her daughters, Brenda Jo Gibson & husband, Ray; Marcia Lee Lester; daughter-in-law, Pam Branum; 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Millie Pennington of Fishers, Indiana and Dorothy Beck of Troy, Ohio, and several nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Branum was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 years, Curtis Branum, in 2012; one infant son, in 1945; son, James Robert Branum, in 2020; granddaughter, Jennifer Clark; brothers, Rolland Anthony and Roger Anthony; sister, Doreatha Johnson.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 3rd at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City, IN 47341. Entombment will follow in Earlham Mausoleum
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 3 at the funeral home.
