“Faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love”…I Corinthians 13:13
Walter Myron Bell was called to his eternal heavenly home on December 26, 2020.
Myron was born May 31, 1928 in Johnstown Indiana, the 5th of 7 children, to Walter Levi and Willie (Neathery) Bell. He attended school at Dalton and Mooreland.
On September 3, 1948, he married Phyllis Jean Bowman. They celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in 2020. Together they raised 8 children, Charles (Peggy), Rex (Susan), Julianne (Greg) Stout, Ross, Jeanna (Jeff) Stout, Mariellen (Brad) Miller, David (Jennifer), and Trecia (Rob) Carpenter.
Their children and spouses blessed them with 24 Grandchildren, who in turn blessed them with 34 Great Grandchildren, and a host of extended family. When the whole family gathered it took over 90 plates around the table and a whole lot of chicken legs.
Myron deeply loved God and his family and worked hard his whole life to honor and provide for them.
He farmed for nearly 60 years milking cows, raising pigs and chickens and growing a garden large enough to keep his family fed and happy. He also worked for many years at Perfect Circle and Dana in Hagerstown and New Castle.
Myron was a faithful member of White Branch Church of the Brethren for over 70 years and has been a Deacon there for many of those years.
Services will be held Saturday, January 2, 12:00 pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Friday, January 1st, and one hour before the services on Saturday. Burial will follow at Brick Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 and the governor’s mandate face coverings and social distancing is required.
Myron will always be remembered for his love of flowers (especially mums). But in lieu of flowers, Myron would ask that memorial donations instead be sent to Mahali Pa Maisha or White Branch Church of the Brethren, or to the charity of your choice.
