Talmage L. Tyner, age 85, a resident of Indianapolis, formerly of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 22, 2020. He was a patient at Community Heart and Vascular Center.
He was born August 10, 1935 in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Reginald and Ottie Sturgell Tyner.
He was a graduate of New Castle High School and served in the US Army. After 2 years in the Army, he served 4 years with the Army National Guard. He retired after 40 years of service working in the grocery store industry serving as a manager for many of those years. In New Castle, he was manager of the A & P Grocery Store for many years. He was a member of the American Legion and the Elks Club. He was a sports enthusiast and particularly liked NASCAR racing, Indianapolis Colts Football, Indiana Pacers Basketball, Indiana University football and basketball. He was very involved with family activities and was a supporter of all their endeavors.
Left to cherish his loving memory include his wife, Mary White Tyner, whom he married January 22, 1956; one son, Mike Tyner of Indianapolis; two daughters, Janet Tyner Rains (husband, Ed) of New Castle; Debbie Tyner Burgner (husband, Brad) of Yorba Linda, California; eight grandchildren, Mike Tyner, Jill Pannell, Valerie Tyner, Amanda Wagers, Geoffrey Smith, Chris Burgner, Daniel Burgner, and Joshua Burgner. Also, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, John Tyner.
Friends may call 2-5 p.m., Sunday at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad Street. Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday at the funeral home with Reverend John Mark Tyner officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
