Robert Sherrill Hill, Sr. 77, of Connersville passed away with his loving wife by his side early Sunday morning, December 13, 2020 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Connersville.
One of five children of Robert James and Wilmer Louella Hopkins Hill, Robert was born in Thomasville, North Carolina on June 10, 1943, and graduated from Glenn Burnie High School in Glenn Burnie, Maryland with the class of 1961.
For many years, Robert was employed in the shipping and receiving department with Yellow Freight Company, working at several locations throughout the country.
On January 20, 2001, Robert married the former Jacqueline A. “Jacki” Kortea in Carthage, Indiana. They retired to Florida for many years, returning to Connersville a few years ago. Mrs. Hill survives.
A man of God, Robert loved serving the Lord and became an ordained minister with the United Methodist Church. He officiated many weddings and funerals throughout the years.
In his leisure time, Robert enjoyed watching sports, especially the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens. He also enjoyed all types of Maryland seafood.
Besides his wife of 19 years, Jacki Hill, survivors include three children, Robert Hill, Jr. of Odenton, Maryland, Gary D (Lisa) Hill of Pasadena, Maryland, and Leon E. (Nancy) Hill of Rockville, Maryland; two grandchildren, Ashley N. Hill and Robert “Bobby” Hill; two great-grandchildren, Aleese and Shawn Hill; a sister, Judy (Robert) Hill McCoy of Winterhaven, Florida; a brother, Alan (Lynda) Hill of Feeding Hill, Massachusetts; two step-sons, David Canty and Robert (Jessica) Canty, all of Connersville; three step-grandchildren, Jayson Daniel Canty, Adrein Joseph Canty, and Elizabeth Marie Canty; a sister-in- law, Darlene Day Kortea of Vincennes, Indiana and a very special sister- in- law Kay Hill of Pasadena, Maryland. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Rebecca Ann Hill and Barbara Kay Hill; two brothers, James Hill and Michael Hill; and his in-laws, Dennis and Ruth Kortea.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Reverend John Reynolds will officiate.
