Phyllis Jean Pflum, 80, of Connersville passed away surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the Golden Living Center of Richmond, Indiana. Under a physician’s care, she had been in failing health since September, 2019.

She was born June 9, 1940 in Ida May, Kentucky in Lee County, one of six children of Robert and Gertrude (Rowland) Ash. At the age of three, she moved with her family to Connersville for residence, and she was a 1958 graduate of Connersville High School.

Following high school, she worked as a car hop at Kunkel’s Drive-In. From there, she went on to work at Rex Philco-Ford Manufacturing. She also worked at J.C. Penney, where she did some modeling. After that, she became a bank teller for over ten years at Fayette Bank & Trust.

In September, 1961, she married Lowell J. Pflum in St. Gabriel Church, and then they moved to the Alquina area. Later they moved to Wayne County where they farmed for many years.

Phyllis was a member of St. Gabriel Church and Daughters of Isabella. She was also a Cub Scout den leader.

In her leisure, she enjoyed gardening, canning, visiting Mcdonald’s friends, puzzle books, and spending time with family.

Survivors, beside Lowell, include their five children: Beth Gabbard of Dublin, Indiana, Chris Pflum of Connersville, Jeff (Nichol) Pflum of Connersville, Cindy (Jerry) Seiler of Carmel, Indiana, and Greg Pflum of Centerville, Indiana; a sister, Patricia (Dick) Yards of Cincinnati, Ohio; nine grandchildren: Chelsea (Derek) Lingg of Connersville, Trevor Gabbard of Dublin, Evan and Laiken Pflum of Connersville, Mason, Dana, London, and Denver Seiler of Carmel, and Logan Crawley of Milan, Indiana; and one great-grandchild, Jayden Crawley of Milan, Indiana. She is also blessed with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Helen Powell, a brother, Jim Ash, and three infant siblings.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2020 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited that morning at 10:30 a.m, and the funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m with Reverend Dustin Boehm officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.
