Michael Lee Bogue, age 71, a New Castle resident, passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Marion, Indiana. He was born September 13, 1948 in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Elmer Lee and Sarah Lucille Spaulding Bogue.
Mike was a New Castle resident most of his life and was a 1969 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School where he participated in track and football. He served an enlistment with the United States Army and served a tour of duty for 12 months in Vietnam. He was a recipient of several military awards and recognitions including the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Bars and Marksmanship Proficiency with M14 Weapon. Mike will be remembered as a patriot and an outstanding citizen. He was recognized by Mayor Bud Ayers on October 15, 1982 a certificate for his “Outstanding Contribution to the Beautification of New Castle.” Mike worked for the City of New Castle as a volunteer planting and maintaining flowers, and general lawn and landscaping duties on New Castle property. Mike also worked several years as an assistant to Sam Hall at Macer-Hall Funeral Home. He will always be remembered for his smile and friendliness to everyone. It was a “joy” to be with Mike.
Left to cherish his loving memory include a niece, Norma Sue Hills of Kokomo, Indiana; a nephew, Michael Bailey of Union City, Indiana; several great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins; also, many friends who loved him very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bonnie Gates; a brother, John David Bailey; wife, Evalee Bogue.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2020 at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 Broad Street Chapel, New Castle, Indiana with U.S. Air Force Veteran Reverend Max Wright officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call 11:00 a.m., until service time Friday at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.
