Marylee Pope died peacefully at the home of her daughter, Wednesday, December 30, 2020. She was born at home on November 27, 1930 in Randolph County to Perry Scott and Edith Holt Hitchcock.
She was the youngest of 7 children and worked at the Henry County Courthouse serving as Recorder for 9 ½ years and retired at the age of 71 after working 18 years in the Prosecutors Office.
She is survived by her daughter, Nona Edwards; son, Jeffrey Bryon (Terri) Pope; three grandchildren, Jason Scott (Leslie) Edwards, James Ryan Edwards, Rhiannon Grey Pope; great grandchildren, Neriah Shae (Taylor) Smith, Adalynn Brooke Edwards, Karleigh Nicole Wilson, Halle Elizabeth Wilson and Ella Mae Edwards; one great great granddaughter, Marren Rose Smith and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Byron Pope; son-in-law, Bruce Edwards; 3 sisters, and 4 brothers.
She will always be remembered for her great sense of humor, her sharp mind and the love of her children and grandchildren and will be missed by many friends and family.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Mark Lomison officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or New Lisbon Christian Church, 6477 East County Road 500 South, New Lisbon, IN 47366.
