Marie Winchester, 93 of New Castle went to her heavenly home on Wednesday December 2, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born Lillie Marie Jones September 15, 1927 in Albany Kentucky, a daughter of the late Roosevelt and Rubena (Bell) Jones and lived most of her life in Henry County. She was known as “The Pie Lady”, making and delivering pies to many friends and family.
Marie co-owned/operated Winchester Furniture Store in Dublin Indiana, worked at Bob & Vi’s, Bamboo Inn and American Legion, and retired in 1983 from Philco Ford in Connersville. She was a member of the First Assemblies of God Church, Cambridge City, a life-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Cambridge City, a member of VFW Auxiliary & Moose Auxiliary both in New Castle.
Left to cherish her loving memory include: two sons, Luther Roy Winchester and Michael Dean (Mike) Winchester, one brother, Floyd Jones, three sisters Ella Mae Voiles, Bonnie Ragan, Bobbie (Keith) Damren, grandchildren Debbie Johnston, Jonathan (Angela) Winchester, Robert (Donna) Winchester, Brian (Jene) Winchester, Chrissy (Jerry) Stefani, great grandchildren Nate & Zak Johnston, Jonathan (Kailey) Winchester, America (Alex) Ligman, Reagan Winchester & Madison Winchester, Maddox Winchester, Oliva, Avery, & Nora Winchester, J.D. & Lola Stefani, great great grandchildren Jathan & Knox Winchester, Eden & Olive Ligman, two daughters-in-law Bonnie Winchester and Linda Winchester, & many nieces & nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Brenda Joyce Winchester, loving son Raymond Eugene Winchester, first husband Luther Winchester, one brother Raymond Jones (Loretta), and three sisters Barbara Sewell (Charlie), Bercie Cleek (Red) and Mildred Irene Jones.
Visitation and Services will be held at Macer-Hall-Marcum-Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 Broad St. New Castle on Monday December 7, 2020 with visitation 12-2pm, Pastor Mark Malek will officiate the service at 2:00pm. She will be laid to rest during a private graveside service at Hillsboro Cemetery in New Castle.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Legion, Post 169 25 West Church Street, Cambridge City Indiana 47327. Please indicate “In memory of Marie Winchester” on the gift.
