Lester D. Robinson Sr., age 77, of Richmond, Indiana, went home to the Lord Monday, May 4, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family, losing his battle with esophageal cancer after only eight months.

Born January 6, 1943, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Lester C. and Ellen J. Campbell Robinson, Lester lived in Richmond most of his life. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1962 and received a degree from Ivy Tech Community College in heating and refrigeration.

Lester served as a jet mechanic in the United States Air Force for four years. He worked at Belden, D&M Manufacturing, and H&P Tool Company and drove a semi-truck for Irmar Trucking and TSN East/Midwest. For the last few years, Lester delivered school buses for Safeway Drive Away.

He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Richmond. Lester was also a member of REACT (Radio Emergency Associated Communication Teams) and CIDRA (Central Indiana Drag Racing Association). His passion in life was helping other people. Lester enjoyed working in his yard and garden, drag racing on the weekends at the Fayette and Union county raceways, and getting in the hot tub with his great-grandson, Noah.

Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Janet Hoos Robinson, to whom he was married in 1963; daughter, Lisa Cull; son, Lester Robinson Jr.; four grandchildren, Erica Robinson, Kristopher (Jessica) Mathews, and Colinie and Adam Robinson; three great-grandchildren, Noah Robinson and Elena and Evan Mathews; brother, Jim (Carol) Robinson; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Michael) Houser and Pamela (Greg) Ozbun; host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jr. Stapleton, Steve McClain, and Donnie Wright.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we regret to inform you that there will be no services for Lester D. Robinson Sr. at this time. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a future date. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
