Leora (Whittle) Dodd, 79, of New Castle, Indiana, passed away on the morning of Monday, July 6, 2020 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
She was born April 5, 1941, in Russell Springs, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Rys and Mary Eva (Wilson) Whittle.
New Castle was home for Leora most of her life. She was a hard worker and had worked in housekeeping at nursing homes. She enjoyed country and gospel music, canning, gardening, crocheting, and her flowers, but most of all, Leora loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Leora’s memory include five children, Timothy (Barbara) Johnson of Leesburg, FL, Debra (Larry) Groce of Manteca, CA, John (Glenda) Johnson of New Castle, Lisa Tippett of Sneads Ferry, NC, Tabitha Turner (Fiancé: Rusty) of New Castle; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Buck of Springport, and several nieces and nephews.
Leora was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice (Red) Cook and Ada Wilson; a brother, Vedna “Lee” Whittle; a nephew, Donnie Foster, and a brother-in-law, Ronald Buck.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Sproles Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Christian Cemetery at Springport.
Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
