Kevin Wayne Bennett, 59, of Springport passed away Monday, November 16, 2020 at his residence. He was born March 2, 1961 in Anderson, Indiana to Lowell Wayne and Nancy Jane (Kirchner) Bennett.
He was a 1979 graduate of Blue River Valley, he also attended Ivy Tech and Lincoln Tech. Kevin enjoyed camping and fishing, those activities began around age 8, on Fridays he would pack up fishing pole and pup tent and hike to the creek on the family farm and stay until Sunday dusk. Quiet, reserved and kind he would do anything to help someone. He had a passion for restoring and refurbishing anything. He had many hobbies, coin & stamp collecting and metal detecting. He loved the farm life working on small engines and large trucks. He could spot a mushroom at 50 yards. Kevin loved listening to 70’s and 80’s music and watching “Gold Rush”. Along with all the above mentioned passions and hobbies, Kevin had a strong desire and determination to enjoy life. Faced with physical challenges, starting at a young age and lasting throughout his life, Kevin overcame those challenges that were deemed to be his demise. That determination to live got Kevin’s story published in The New England Journal of Medicine, not once but twice. Most stories published in this journal reflect on a medical study of someone who is deceased. Kevin’s stories were published while living his life to the fullest.
