Kathryn L. Myers, 78, of New Castle, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born October 22, 1942 in West Virginia, a daughter of the late Huey and Kathryn (Mountcastle) Hamm.
Kathryn attended Sand Knob High School in West Virginia. She married Curtis Myers in Farmland, Indiana and they moved to Kentucky for a few years where they were sharecroppers. They moved to Mooreland, Indiana, where Kathryn worked at the New Castle State Developmental Center for many years later retiring from the Richmond State Hospital.
Kathryn enjoyed crocheting, working puzzles on her iPad, shopping QVC and Amazon, and her dogs. Honey and Jake. She was a member of Four Square Church and had enjoyed volunteering at AGAPE Learning Center in the kitchen.
Those left to cherish Kathryn’s memory include her son, Stevie (Michelle) Myers of Mooreland; her daughter, Vanda Myers Nunley (Jeff) of Losantville; her son, Huey James (Jo) Myers of Muncie; six grandchildren, Nikki (Chris) Americanos, McKayla Myers, Stephen Myers, J.D. Nunley, Abbie (Ryan) Lindsay, and Wendy Renee Myers; six great-grandchildren, Themi and Evie Americanos, Cayden and Allie Nunley, and Miranda and Macie Lindsay; five sisters, Betty Funk, Bonnie (Dale) Hoover, Patty (Marvin) Sears, Louise “Sis” Brumbaugh, and Rhonda Ford, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Myers; a son, Jeff Myers; a grandson, Charlie Myers; four brothers, Bobby, Jimmy, Juddy, and Joe Hamm and a special friend, Ron.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Becker officiating. Burial will follow in Blountsville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 – 8 Wednesday at the funeral Home.
