Jerry E. Johnson, age 77, a New Castle resident, passed away Friday, June 5, 2020 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He was born March 18, 1943 in New Market, Tennessee, a son of the late Ralph Johnson and Ernestine “Tena” Gann Johnson.
He was a graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. He served an enlistment with the United States Army where he served a tour of duty in Germany. He was a recipient of several military awards and recognitions. He served as a Sergeant. Jerry was retired from Carson Chemicals in New Castle after many years of service. He was a member of the Grand Avenue Baptist Church for many years. He enjoyed drawing, painting, fishing and was also a Ham Radio enthusiast.
Left to cherish his loving memory include his daughter, Mrs. Tina Buell (husband, David) of Mt. Summit; a granddaughter, Rachel Prince of Mt. Summit; a brother Charles “C. W.” Johnson of New Castle. Also, several nieces and nephews survive.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ron Johnson; a sister, Elaine Curtis.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel with Reverend Charles Dugger officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 – 4:00 p., Wednesday, June 10, 2020, before services. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Garden. Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion at the Cemetery.
