Irvin “Buddy” Collins, 85, Connersville, died Thursday, May 14, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Buddy was born to William and Jeneve Willis Collins on January 17, 1935. He attended Connersville High School where he met Lois Rader. After 20 years of being apart, Buddy and Lois married in Jellico, Tennessee in 1972. Buddy operated the bowling alley located on Western Avenue. He was employed as a supervisor for Mac Machine and was also a caregiver for CRF First Choice. Among his many accomplishments, he qualified in the senior games for swimming to attend the World Championship in Australia. Buddy enjoyed boating on the lake, mushroom hunting, and pheasant hunting. He loved sharing a meal at the Mexican restaurant with his family. Buddy was a proud supporter of Connersville basketball, IU basketball, and Notre Dame football.

Buddy is survived by his grandson: Dustin Free Sr., great grandchildren: Dustin Jr., and Adora Free; Nephew and his wife: Jim and Paula Free; Nieces and their husbands: Kim Collins, Donna Edgar and David, Sue Shepherd and Tony; Great-nieces and their husbands: Katie Free Roland and Ben, Casey Free Weber and Ian; Special friends: Don and Cathy Rader In addition to his parents, Buddy is preceded in death by his son: Kenzie C. Free; Brother: Edward “Bunky” Collins.

In light of the current pandemic the family has requested a Graveside service to be conducted at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Dale Cemetery, section G. Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel has been entrusted with the services.
