RICHMOND, Ind. – On Tuesday, January 7, 2020, the Lord decided it was time for our angel on earth, Helen Marie York Morgan, to join His angels in Heaven.
Helen was born on September 4, 1932, in Hazard, Kentucky, to Stanley and Nora Brock York. She grew up in Connersville, Indiana, and lived in Colorado for a short period of time before her family settled in Indiana. Helen attended and graduated from Grand Junction Colorado High School. After high school, she attended and graduated from Asbury College in 1954 and later earned her master’s degree from Ball State University. One week after her college graduation, Helen married the love of her life, Rev. S.E. Morgan. Eventually, they settled in the Richmond area. Helen became a high school English teacher. She retired from Northeastern High School in 1994, after 21 years of service.
Helen belonged to many clubs and organizations in retirement. She enjoyed reading and cooking. Helen traveled with her husband and enjoyed spending time with her family. Throughout her entire life, she loved reading and studying her Bible and serving the Lord. Helen volunteered her time in any way she could to please Him, serve Him, and love Him. She was humble, generous, and kind, giving all she could and expecting nothing in return.
Waiting to join her in Heaven are her husband of 65 years, Rev. S.E. Morgan; children, Lori (Jack) Leverton of Hagerstown, Indiana, David (Christine) Morgan of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Dan (Shannon) Morgan of Richmond; grandchildren, Patricia (Brandon) Groce, Andrew (Bryant Coffing) Emmenegger, Kelly Morgan, Katie (Joe) Webb, Katherine Morgan, Jack Morgan, Hannah (Mark Kramer) Morgan, Julia Morgan, and Hunter Morgan; great-grandchildren, Kobe and Marley Kramer and one on the way; sisters, Frances Cox of North Carolina and Sue (Doyle) Ohman of Amboy, Indiana; brother, David (Kathy) York of Fowler, Indiana; nieces; nephews; and many friends, including her “Round Robin” friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Francis Cox; and niece, Julia Ohman.
