Hazel Blanche Swoveland, 92, of Huntsville, died at her home on Saturday, December 19, 2020.
She was born in New Castle on September 14, 1928 to Floyd and Olive (Freer) Wilkinson and lived most of her life in Randolph County.
Hazel was a 1946 graduate of Losantville High School. She was a former employee of Anchor Hocking in Winchester and, for many years, she owned and operated the Huntsville Grocery. She was a member of Losantville Separate Baptist Church.
Survivors include 3 children, Bonnie (Sam) Cook, Bob (Jeannette) Swoveland and Merri Beth Allen; 21 grandchildren, including Ricky Pierce, who she raised; 35 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Swoveland; 4 children, Donnie Swoveland, Rick Swoveland, David Swoveland and Dorothy Pierce; a granddaughter, Jennifer Lykens; a great-great-grandson; 3 brothers, James Wilkinson, Ronald Wilkinson and William Wilkinson; 3 sisters, Helen York, Carol Stinson and Dorothy Nixon.
Visitation will be 1 to 2 PM on Tuesday, December 22, at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Services will follow at 2 PM. Pastor Mike Thornburg will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Losantville.
