Grethel A. Schoettmer, 89, of Connersville passed away late Monday evening, August 31, 2020, at Reid Health, Richmond.
One of six children of Nathan and Isabelle Isaacs, Grethel was born in Jackson County, Kentucky on August 14, 1931.
On November 20, 1948, Grethel married Edward J. Schoettmer in Connersville. Mr. Schoettmer passed away on February 10, 2002.
For many years, Grethel was employed at Caroleton Manor Nursing Home.
A great cook, Grethel enjoyed fixing meals for her family and her children’s friends who called her mom. She was known to give her kids a “peck on the head.”
Survivors include her children, Barbara Roberts, Andra Schoettmer, John (Carol) Schoettmer, Robert (Sherry) Schoettmer, and Lora Seckman, all of Connersville; twelve grandchildren, Eddie Roberts, Roy Roberts, Melissa Narvel, Nathan Schoettmer, Alicia Pursifull, John T. Schoettmer, April (Chris) Schuler, Dustin Schoettmer, Robert S. Schoettmer, Stephanie Schoettmer, Athena (Tommy) Skaggs, and Steven C. Seckman; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; three siblings, Bernice Lakes of Tucson, Arizona, Wayland (Rita) Isaacs of Connersville, and James Isaacs (Linda Cox) of McKee, Kentucky; a special friend, William Pursifull, and special friend Jim Hedrick; and her beloved pet dog, Chloe.
Besides her husband of 53 years, Edward Schoettmer, Grethel was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Esther Gabbard and Irene Day; and Lora’s fiancé, Kevin Collins.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Ware officiating. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2020 at the funeral home.
