Dorothy Blanche Swaney, age 90, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, April 5, 2020, at Golden Living Center-Golden Rule.

Born December 10, 1929, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Joseph and Katheryn Cooper Brefeld, Dorothy was a 1948 graduate of Newport High School in Newport, Kentucky. She lived in Richmond for most of her life. Dorothy was a legal secretary for Reller, Kleinknecht, and Milligan law firm for 31 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Dorothy enjoyed sewing and crafts.

Survivors include her niece, Gail Allan of Austin, Texas; nephew, Ron Eimer of New Harmony, Ohio; numerous other nieces and nephews of Texas and Georgia; and many friends, including special friends, Devota Owens, Micah Williamson, Patti Clark, and Becky and Jay Hartman, all of Richmond.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Omer William Swaney, who died November 1, 2005; parents; and brother, William Joseph Brefeld.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we regret to inform you that services for Dorothy Blanche Swaney will be private. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
