Clifford A. “Bill” Marlatt, 92, of New Castle passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Addison Place Assisted Living. He was born July 12, 1927 in New Castle to the late Arthur C. and Luva O. (Shafer) Marlatt.

Bill was drafted to serve his Country in 1951 and served in the U.S. Marines. As an aviation enthusiast, he built and opened the Sky Castle Airport on 400 South in 1952. He had a passion for farming and was a lifelong Henry County farmer. Bill was an avid fan of country music, International Harvester and fishing.

He is survived by his children, John (Judy) Marlatt, Jeanette Marlatt, Jeff (Kelly) Marlatt; grandchildren, Lindsay (Jesse) Posey, Lauran Olsen, Jeremy Marlatt, Ryan (Jeff) Pence, Katie (Joe) Manning, Jake (Abby) Mofield; seven great grandchildren and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his twin brother, Clinton Marlatt; sisters, Ruth Chew and Zona Sowers.

Bill’s family wishes to thank Jackie Adams and staff of Addison Place for the exceptional care including special efforts of Scott Teague.

Services were held privately. Burial will take place at South Mound Cemetery. If you would like to make a donation in Bill’s memory, you may to the charity of your choice.
