Carl C. Lykins, Jr., 79, of Connersville passed away at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
One of two children of Carl C., Sr. and Marian McHenry Lykins, Carl was born on November 16, 1941 in Connersville and graduated from Connersville High School with the class of 1959.
On December 1, 1959, Carl was married in Columbia, Indiana by Reverend Glen Beck to the former Peggy Frasher. Mrs. Lykins survives.
For over 43 years, Carl was employed at Roots Blower in the field service department and traveled throughout the world for the company.
Along with his family, Carl had been a member of Columbia United Methodist Church and for over 50 years was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Warren Lodge #15 where he had served as Past Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the Connersville Rotary Club for several years where he had served as club president.
In his leisure time, Carl enjoyed traveling, reading, and was a proud grandfather who loved to attend his grandchildren’s school and sporting events.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Peggy Lykins; three children, Carl “Chip” (Gaylene) Lykins, III, Shirley (Michael) Spurlock, and Susan (Johnny) Tipton, all of Connersville; six grandchildren, Jolene (Jake) Payton of Connersville, Dakota Lykins of Indianapolis, Travis (Amy) Fink of Greenwood, Addison (Jackie) Tipton of Liberty, Bryce (Sabrina) Tipton of Connersville, and Cameron Tipton of Japan; three great-grandchildren, Ainsley Payton, Owen Fink, and Sawyer Tipton; three siblings, Bonnie Collier of Dillsborough, Indiana, David Lykins, and Larry (Judy) Lykins, all of Connersville; step-mother, Kathleen Lykins of Connersville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at the convenience of the family with Pastor Shawn Tipton officiating. Masonic services will be conducted by Warren Lodge Free and Accepted Masons. Burial will be in Village Creek Cemetery.
