William Gene Blumer, Sr., 71, of Greens Fork, died Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Reid Health, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in East St. Louis, IL on November 30, 1947 to John and Edith (Croster) Blumer. He had resided in Wayne County for the past 43 years. He served with the US Army and was a member of AMVETS Post 38, Greens Fork. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family.
He leaves to cherish his memory: 2 children, William Gene Blumer, Jr. and Katherine Sartain; 5 grandchildren, Mikey Sartain (Elizabeth), Dominick Sartain, Vincent Sartain, Hannah Blumer (Dylan Brown) and William Gene Blumer, III; 3 great-grandchildren, Lukas Sartain, Carter Sartain and Levi Sartain; 3 sisters, Becky Miller (Mike), Elaine Wilson (Rick) and Nora Barnes; a brother, Les Blumer (Jackie) and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Blumer; 3 brothers, John Blumer, Charles Blumer and Wilford Blumer; a sister, Janet Blumer and a brother in law, Art Barnes.
Services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 25, at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Cliff Sparks will officiate. Burial will follow in Greens Fork South Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 PM on Thursday.
