Ralph “Harold” Swoveland Jr.,70, of New Castle, passed away on the afternoon of Thursday, November 21, 2019 in New Castle.

He was born on March 16, 1949, in New Castle, the son of Ralph Harold Sr. and Doris J. Swoveland.

Harold attended Mooreland Elementary and graduated from Blue River Valley High School in 1968. He was drafted in 1969 and served his country as an Ammunition Technician in the United States Marine Corp. Harold farmed with his father, Ralph Swoveland, on the family farms and also worked for Philco Ford in Connersville before retiring from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle. He was a former Sergeant of Arms with the American Legion of Richmond, current member of New Castle American Legion Post 137 and the National Rifle Association. Harold was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed chatting on Facebook, breakfast every month with his cousins at Park Restaurant and visiting with his friends at Richmond, Daleville and Greens Fork American Legions.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Doris J. Swoveland; three sisters, Carolyn Keesling, Janice Swoveland and Sherrie (husband: Bob) Eversole all of New Castle; two nieces Heather (husband: Justin) Stevens of Jamestown, IN and Audrey (husband: Steve) Hamlin of Madison, NC; aunt, Margaret (husband: Jim) Miles of Indianapolis, IN; special cousins, Don King, Aaron King, Doris Ruth (husband: Gib) Hoover, Ernie (wife: Tara) Peavler, Ron Peavler, Robert Peavler and other close relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Harold Swoveland Sr. and cousins, Kenneth King and Patrcia Lowery.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, November 25, 2019 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Douglas officiating. Burial will follow at Mooreland Cemetery.
