RICHMOND, Ind. – Joann E. Miles, age 91, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Reid Health.
Born December 6, 1927, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Charles M. and Carolyn Kling Ellis, Joann lived in Wayne and Union County most of her life. She was a 1943 graduate of Wiley High School in Terre Haute, Indiana, and had attended Indiana State University and Purdue University. Joann retired as a clerk in the OB department at Reid Memorial Hospital in 1993. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, where she enjoyed fellowshipping with her church family. Joann loved traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Candice Miles and March (Duane) Crist, both of Richmond; sons, Charles Miles of Indianapolis, Indiana, Bruce Miles of Muncie, Indiana, Tony (Ruth) Miles of Richmond, Michael Miles of Indianapolis, and Philip “Pete” (Donna) Miles of Zionsville, Indiana; grandchildren, April (Mike) Miles-Barth and Brian (Lindsey) Miles, both of Richmond, Thomas (Aubrey) Crist of Centerville, Indiana, Alex Crist of Waco, Texas, Samuel Miles of Indianapolis, and Clarice Miles of Zionsville; seven great-grandchildren; cousins; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Joann E. Miles will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Karkosky officiating. Burial will be in Elkhorn Cemetery.
