Roberta Marie “Bertie” West, age 85, of Richmond, Indiana, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Reid Health.
Born May 30, 1932, in Richmond, Indiana, to Robert and Bessie Corman, Bertie was a life-long resident of this community. She owned and operated West House Ceramics, Morton House Ceramics, and several antique shops in Centerville, Indiana. Bertie was a member of the Richmond Senior Center, where she taught ceramics for many years. “Auntie Bertie” loved quilting, cooking, gardening, and taking road trips with her puppy.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Richard West; sisters, Wilma Bishop and Dorothy Combes, both of Richmond; sisters-in-law, Eunice and Evelyn Corman, both of Richmond; nieces; nephews; and many friends, including her dog, Black Jack.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Viola May and Virginia Lucas; and brothers, Kenneth and David Corman.
Visitation for Roberta Marie “Bertie” West will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Chaplain Rick Alvey officiating. Entombment will be in the Earlham Memorial Mausoleum.
