Norman Manlove, 84, graduated into Heaven early Sunday morning July 8, 2018 at Reid Hospital where he had been for a week. Norman had been in poor health for 15 years, having dialysis for 9 years. He had been a resident of Caroleton Manor since December. Born on September 19, 1933 to the late Robert G. and Velma Frances (Staats) Manlove, Norman resided in the home of his birth. He married the sister of his best friend Charles Wallace, Nancy Wallace, in Centerville on October 7, 1955. Norman’s great-great grandfather was the first white child born in Posey Township, Fayette County. Norman was in the “top 10” of his class of 1952 at Bentonville High School. (There were only 10). Norman was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Connersville where he served as a Sunday school teacher, bus driver, trip driver and member of the choir. He enjoyed antique engines, tractors and machinery and exhibited at the Pioneer Engine Club in Rushville and Tri State Gas Engine Association in Portland. His other memberships include Board of Directors of Bentonville Cemetery Association and board member and past president of the Fayette County Conservation Club at Manlove Park. Norman was a jokester and often felt a need to make folks smile especially as a driver for Fayette County Transit. A lifelong farmer, Norman also worked as a welder for many years at Wayne Works in Richmond and Roots Blower (Dresser) in Connersville.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nancy Manlove; 5 children, Karen (Ed) Helmbolt of Clovis, CA, Scott (Marilyn) of Batesville, IN, Nick (Teresa) of Cambridge City, IN, Andy (Trena) of Madison, AL and Clint (Phyllis) of New Paris, OH; 10 grandchildren, Chelsea Byrd, Jason, Ian, Whitney, Hunter, Hayden, Macey and Corban Manlove, Danielle Troope and Ashley Greene; 5 great grandchildren, Madison Jordan, Easton Troope, Landon Manlove, Elise and Ryder Greene; 3 siblings, Lowell (Ada) Manlove of Fort Meyers, FL, Cheryl (Dane) Quackenbush of New Port Richey, FL and Gale Manlove of Shelbern, IN.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday July 13, 2018 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastors Kim McHale and John Reynolds will officiate. Burial will follow at Bentonville Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday July 12th. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Bentonville Fire Dept. P.O.
