Mildred Imol Thornburg 104 of Richmond died October 29, 2018 at Friends Fellowship Community. She was born November 29, 1913 in Randolph County to Frederick and Laura Davis Beeson and move to Richmond from Dalton 63 years ago.
She worked as a Secretary at Perfect Circle in Hagerstown and Sears for many years. She was a wife and mother for 73 years. She was a member of First Friends Meeting. She was a member of the Beeson Sisters Trio with her sisters Marjorie and Mary Alice. She had a radio show on WKBV. In 1940 she was the first Indiana State Fair Queen.
Survivors include two children Frederick (Janice) Parker-Thornburg of Friendswood, Texas and Marina (Duane) Tackitt of Washington, D.C., three grandchildren Joanie (Brandon Castroflay) Richwine, Megan (Davidson) Wissing, and Eric Thornburg, two step grandchildren Patrick (Emily) Tackitt and Andrew (Alicia) Tackitt, one great grandchild Alex Richwine, four step great grandchildren Drew, Jacob, Henry and Samuel Tackitt. She is preceded in death by her husband Philip, an infant daughter Nancy Thornburg, her parents, seven brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday November 3, 2018 in the Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Chapel with Doug Gwin officiating. Burial will be in Nettle Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at Stegall-Berheide-Orr.
