Mary V. Sourbeer, 92, of Pershing passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Ambassador Health Care in Centerville. The family would like to thank the staff at Ambassador for the wonderful care Mary received.
She was born on March 8, 1925, in Centerville to Carl and Pauline Haisley Jackson and had lived all her life in the Wayne County area.
Mary was a 1943 graduate of Lincoln High School and had worked there as the food director and retired in 1988 after 25 years. She attended Milton Christian Church, and was a member of C.W. Fellowship and Tuesday Ladies Euchre Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors are her children; daughter Teresa (Allen) Renaker and sons David (Gerry), Michael (Annette) and Steven (Kathy) Sourbeer; 6 grandchildren, Lianne (Craig) Warner, Kevin Sourbeer, Chris Strickler, Ryan Renaker, Sara (Stephen) Jones and Amanda Sourbeer; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Marge Swim and Doris Funkhouser nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Paul W. Sourbeer; and siblings Dale, Jean, Janet, Betty and Hazel.
Funeral services will be on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11:00 am at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City with Scott Moistner officiating. Burial will follow in Zion’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to Milton Christian Church in Milton or to the Golay Center in Cambridge City.
