A national treasure our beautiful mother Helen Louise Irvine Thorn, 93, passed away peacefully in her beloved town of Lynn IN, Thursday, November 22, 2018, surrounded by her children. She was born May 13, 1925 in Hollansburg, OH, the daughter of Harry and Anna M. (Teaford) Irvine.
Helen enjoyed working as an Avon Representative. She most loved the life of homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending her leisure time sewing, gardening, canning and exploring the great outdoors searching for mushrooms & carrying a rifle of her own while hunting. There never existed a dog she did not love.
She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Doris Anne “Dodie” Preston (husband, Ronald) of Lynn, IN, Claudia Jo Thorn Bex (husband, Brian) of Hagerstown, IN and Jeffery Todd Thorn of Lynn, IN (partner, Bruce Bridges); grandchildren, Melanie Lynn Thorn, Angela Lynn Chamberlain (husband, Larry), Nathan Daniel Thorn, Carrie Sue Preston, Kelly Marie Parker, Jonathon Lee Preston, Charles Michael Thorn, William Gabrial Thorn, Chance Taylor Thorn; great-grandchildren, Carlissa Ditty, Daniel Ditty, Abby Suanne Chamberlain and Connor Evan Chamberlain, Ted Thorn, Triston Gage Thorn, Samuel Preston Shockney, Max Vincent Shockney, John Wm. Parker IV, Aiden Jack Preston; Hadley Elizabeth Thorn, Eelynn Rosalind Thorn and a sister, Hazel Irvine Kenworthy. She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Harold John “Bud” Thorn; a brother, Forrest “Bud” Irvine; two sons, Nathan Lee and Michael Roland; and a grandson, Teddy Lee Thorn.
