Edith J. Nichols, 79, of Richmond, formerly of Fountain City, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 24.

She was born on July 13, 1939. She married Douglas A. Nichols on September 5, 1959. They were blessed with seven children and almost 32 years of marriage before his death on August 5, 1991.

Edith will be missed by her daughters, Helen Nichols, Arline Fullerton and her husband, Al; and Sandy Collier; son, Troy Nichols; son-in-law, Paul Cones; son-in-law, Craig Owens and his wife, Paula; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Bryan “Bean” Nichols; daughters, Sue Cones and Cindy Owens; and grandson, Christopher Fullerton.

Edith’s life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 31, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 31, at the funeral home.
