Donald Loren Bane, age 71, of Richmond, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Reid Health after a long battle with cancer.
Born August 3, 1947, in Richmond, Indiana, to Robert Eugene and Geneva Waddell Bane, Don lived in Richmond most of his life. He was a 1965 graduate of Union High School in College Corner, Indiana. Don retired from Dana Corporation/Perfect Circle in 2003, after more than 35 years of service. He then began working at Little Sheba’s, where he was known as “Pops”. Don was an avid golfer, who worked as a ranger at Highland Lake Golf Course. He loved sports and coached basketball and softball teams for many years. Don enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in various activities. He had a wonderful sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Linda Jean Brumbaugh Bane; children, Kathy (Adam) Elza of Richmond, Diana (Pete Hedges) Bane of Centerville, Indiana, and Missy (Cory) Fry of Richmond; grandchildren, Donnie (Gypsy) Rose, Michaela Rose, and Cody Kaiser, all of Richmond, Chloe (Ethan) Estes of Cambridge City, Indiana, and Myles, Baylee, and Ryley Fry, all of Richmond; great-grandchildren, Adrian, Geneva, and Rogan Mica Rose; mother, Geneva Bane of Richmond; numerous aunts and uncles; cousins, including Greg Bane and Ronnie Wayne Webb; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and many aunts and uncles, including special uncle, Jimmy Bane.
Visitation for Donald Loren Bane will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Bethesda Worship Center, 2200 Peacock Road, Richmond. Additional visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2018, at Bethesda Worship Center. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2018, at Bethesda Worship Center with Rev. Kendal Harris and Pastor Dave Newman officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
