Dolores Ann Parkhurst, 84, passed away Sunday morning September 16, 2018 at her home with her husband and sons at her side. A daughter of the late Carl and Eunice (Baumgartner) Abrams, Dolores was born in New Castle, Indiana on September 4, 1934. She was raised in the New Lisbon community and graduated from high school there in 1951. She married Clifford Parkhurst on January 11, 1958 in Chesterfield, Indiana. She worked for a brief time after their marriage at Modern Fold Door in New Castle. Dolores was a loving and devoted wife and mother and has made her home west of Hagerstown for the past 55 years. Dolores was a member of the New Lisbon Christian Church where she was active in the Senior Lunch Program and former director of the Bible School and Widows Club. She was a charitable person, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. In her leisure, Dolores enjoyed taking long walks.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Clifford L. Parkhurst; 2 sons, Anthony (Toney) and Tracey Parkhurst; 2 siblings, Malcolm “Mike” Abrams and Linda (Doug) Edwards both of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Faye Taylor and Doris Burchett.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Thursday September 20th at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Roger Hendricks will officiate. Burial will follow at Chicago Corner Cemetery, west of Hagerstown off of State Road 38.
