RICHMOND, Ind. – Carolyn D. Brandes, age 97, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Ambassador Healthcare.
Born October 24, 1920, in Beshka, Yugoslavia, to Jacob and Theresa Dietrich Demand, Carolyn moved to this community in 2009.
She was a graduate of West Tech High School in Cleveland, Ohio, and attended Dyke Business College in Cleveland. Carolyn managed her father’s store, Jacob Demand Furs in Cleveland. She was a life-long learner, who enjoyed taking many classes at Cuyahoga Community College. Carolyn loved music and sang in the church choir and at weddings. She was a fantastic seamstress and hostess, who enjoyed caring for her home, reading, and traveling.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Rosenberger of Richmond, Indiana; grandchildren, Teresa Ohlendorf of Cleveland, Catherine (Hamzeh) Pashazadeh of Evanston, Illinois, and Kristen Rosenberger of Indianapolis, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Amanda Pflug and Azari James and Aria Rose Pashazadeh; niece, Reneé Lace of California; nephew, Larry Lace of Florida; and many friends
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Edwin Brandes, who died in 1987; daughter, Linda Brandes Ohlendorf; son-in-law, James Rosenberger; parents; and sister, Edith Demand Lace.
The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation for the loving care and respect given to Carolyn by the staff of Leland Legacy, Brookdale Senior Living, AsceraCare Hospice, and Ambassador Healthcare.
A private graveside service for Carolyn D. Brandes will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted, Ohio. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
