Betty J. Newton, 85, a longtime Losantville resident, died Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Bethel Pointe Health and Rehab, where she had resided for the past few years.
She was born in Delaware County on October 26, 1932 to Hoobert F. and Susie (Young) Terrell and lived most of her life in the Losantville area.
Betty was a graduate of Losantville High School and a retired employee of Henry County Memorial Hospital. She was a former member of Order of Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Rose Jarrett (Jay) of Hagerstown; a granddaughter, Samera M. Holland (Kenney) of Muncie; 2 great-granddaughters, Haylee M. Holland and Maycee R. Holland; 2 brothers, William H. Terrell (Colleen) of Yorktown and Harry G. Terrell of Losantville; a Brother-in-law, Earl J. Morris; a sister-in-law, Shirley A. Newton; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Newton in 1977 and 7 siblings, Gomer Terrell, Kenneth Terrell, Elizabeth J. Evans, Rosemary Thorn, Barbara Morris, Nancy Smith and Phyllis Terrell.
Visitation will be 10 AM to 12 noon on Saturday, February 3, at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Services will follow at 12 noon. Pastor Mike Thornburg will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Losantville.
