CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Dorothy M. Johnson, age 91, of Centerville, Indiana, died Tuesday, December 25, 2018.

Born April 12, 1927, in New Castle, Indiana, to Russell and Eleanor Lucille Tapscott Furbee, Dorothy was a 1945 graduate of New Castle High School.

She lived in Cambridge City for 48 years and in Centerville for the last 18 years.

Dorothy worked as a beautician, license branch manager, school bus driver, and state beauty inspector and retired at age 85 as a mail carrier. She was a member of the Helen Hunt Club, Society of Decorative Painters, Cambridge City Christian Church, and Centerville Christian Church. Dorothy was an artist and enjoyed painting, home remodeling projects, and above all loved Jesus and her family.

Survivors include her children, Major Carl (Sandy) Johnson, USA, Ret. of Washington, Jane (Steve) Lamb of Centerville, John (Karla) Johnson of Washington, Bruce Johnson of Centerville, and Jeff (Michael Jones) Johnson of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Faye (Matt) Peebles, Angela (Kyle) Muller, Mark (Jean) Lamb, Dr. Matthew (Ami) Lamb, Petty Officer John (Whitney) Lamb, Laura (Chris) Edwards, Chris (Veronica) Johnson, Brett (Dadni) Johnson, Joshua Johnson, and Rayna Johnson; 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way; three sisters, Sarah Lee Snodgress, Nina Green, and Alice Lee; sister-in-law, Mary Cox of Lewisville, Indiana; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends including Jean Clifton Carey.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Wilfred Robert Johnson, who died December 5, 1992; parents; one sister; and three brothers.

Visitation for Dorothy M. Johnson will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Centerville Christian Church, 111 North Morton Avenue, Centerville. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Centerville Christian Church with Pastor Terry Cochran officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City. Arrangements are being handled by Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville.
