RICHMOND, Ind. – William E. “Bill” Russell, age 67, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, December 2, 2018, at The Springs of Richmond.
Born July 21, 1951, in Richmond, Indiana, to David E. and Marjorie J. Hudson Russell, Bill was a life-long resident of this community. He retired from the Richmond Fire Department in 1998, after 20 years of service. In 1979, Bill founded and became the owner and operator of Russell Painting Co. He was an avid reader and enjoyed riding his Harley, playing poker, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends. Bill especially enjoyed his routine visits to The Coney Island, where he played tickets and hung out with his buddies.
Bill was a wonderful husband and father figure, who loved being around and interacting with children. He was a very devoted and determined man, who gave his all to everything he did.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Becky Walls Russell; sons, Eric (Nara) Russell of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Chad Russell of Richmond; grandchildren, Kaylee, Hayden, Alangua “Allie”, and Temujin “Muji”; sister, Karen (Steve) Geier of Centerville, Indiana; brothers, Steve (Julia) Russell of Richmond and Donny (Cindy) Russell of Centerville; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for William E. “Bill” Russell will be from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Bill J. Jackson officiating.
