LEWISVILLE, Ind. – Mary O. Johnson, 98, passed away Monday morning September 4, 2017 at Golden Years Homestead in Fort Wayne, Indiana. A daughter of the late Fay Gilbert and Anna Marie (Pitts) Whitton, Mary was born near Mays, Indiana in Rush County on April 22, 1919. She was a graduate of Lewisville High School with the class of 1937 and was a member of the Modern Homemakers Club for over fifty years and the Sesame Circle. A homemaker, she will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and for her great cooking. Mary was a member of the Lewisville Methodist Church and most recently attended St. Joseph United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne. She had made her home in Rush and Henry Counties for over eighty years and has resided in Fort Wayne since 2000.
Survivors include her son and daughter in-law, Mike and Mary Johnson of Fort Wayne; 4 grandchildren, David (Julia) Johnson of Bluffton, Jeff (Cassy) Johnson of Ossian, Leigh Ann (Mark) Brooks of Huntertown and Susan (Brett) Weaver of Fort Wayne; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Fred M. Johnson on March 20, 1993. They were married in Indianapolis on December 3, 1938; 1 son, Larry Lee Johnson on November 1, 1996; daughter in-law, Faye (Conley) Johnson on November 13, 2006; an infant sister, Eileen Whitton in February of 1926; 2 brothers, Gene and Bob Whitton; step sister, Rosalynn Taft.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at noon on Saturday September 9, 2017 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, 115 West U.S. Hwy. 40- Lewisville, IN 47352. Rev. Marion Hickman will officiate. Burial will follow at the Lewisville Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Lewisville Cemetery- P.O.
