Betty L. Bell Armstrong 91 of Richmond died January 5, 2017 at her home.
She was born April 21, 1925 in Richmond to Orbra M. and Nellie Maines Bell and lived here all her life.
She graduated from Richmond High School and attended Richmond Business School. She was a member of Centerville United Methodist Church.
Betty worked as a bookkeeper for Decca Records until she married Richard “Dick” Armstrong December 6, 1947. She worked at the Palais Royal and Harriet’s Dress Shop. Later she and her husband purchased Armstrong Cleaners and Formalwear in Richmond. She managed the North A Street location until her retirement. She enjoyed time with her family, reading, sewing, and traveling.
Survivors include two sons Richard W. (Dixie) Armstrong and Timothy B. (Barbara) Armstrong of Richmond, four grandchildren Lara (Scott) Morgan of Indianapolis, Ellen Aultman of Mason, Ohio, Elise Armstrong of Richmond, and Brian (Gayle) Armstrong of Richmond, four great granddaughters, one great-great grandson, one sister Martha Morton of Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband died August 20, 2009, her parents, one brother Robert Bell, and nieces, nephews and cousins are also deceased.
Funeral services were 11:00 A.M. Monday January 9, 2017 at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Chalk officiating. Entombment was in Earlham Cemetery. Friends called Sunday 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
