Wilma V. Cox, 91, formerly of Cambridge City and most recently resided at Friend’s Fellowship, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Reid Hospital in Richmond. She was born on February 6, 1925 in Muncie, IN to Arend Vlaskamp and Martha (Snyder) Vlaskamp and had lived in the Cambridge City area since 1954.
Wilma graduated from Muncie Central H.S. in 1943 and then graduated with a BA from Earlham College in 1947. While attending Earlham she met her future husband, Dr. Robert A. Cox. After graduation she and her husband continued to keep close ties with Earlham throughout their lives. They also were involved with Yokefellow International.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Margaret “Peg” Bidlingmeyer of Waterford, MI; four grandchildren, Nathan H. Cox, Nick Cox, Jennifer (Rob) Bidlingmeyer Osterman and Matt (Jennifer Cornell) Bidlingmeyer; two great-grandchildren, Xander and Kaylee Osterman; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Martinez Cox: her sister-in-law, Beverly Cox; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert A. Cox on February 15, 2003 and her son, James R. Cox on June 27, 2008.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Friend’s Fellowship Community in Richmond, IN with Chaplain Sandra Ward-Angell officiating.
