RICHMOND, Ind. – Roy Edward Robertson, age 73, of Richmond, died Sunday, October 2, 2016, at his home.
Born November 16, 1942, in Irvine, Kentucky, to Cecil ‘Jack’ and Elizabeth Newman Robertson, Roy moved to this community when he was ten years old.
He was employed at Wayne Corporation and worked construction. Roy loved spending all of his time with family and friends. He enjoyed playing games, cards, watching racing and westerns, and listening to country music. Roy loved cooking for his weekly card games and family. Anyone for biscuits and gravy!
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Anna Cooper Robertson, to whom he was married on December 15, 1961; daughter, Cathy (Jeff) Bane of Richmond; sons, Wade (Marilyn) Robertson of Centerville, Indiana, Jeff (Lynne) Robertson of Nashville, Tennessee, and John Robertson of Richmond; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Perry (Martie) Robertson of Bethel, Indiana, and Al and Pete (Jane) Cooper, both of Richmond; sisters, Katie (Herb) Ripberger of Richmond and Alma Sweet (John Whitmore) of Michigan; sister-in-law, Sherry Robertson of Richmond; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don Robertson and Carl Cooper; and sister, Dottie Osborne.
Visitation for Roy Edward Robertson was from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service was at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Newman officiating. Burial was in West Grove Cemetery in Centerville, Indiana.
This will be a casual event as Roy would want. The family requests no expensive flowers, throws, or chimes! In lieu of flowers, bring memories to share at the calling or burial. Scatter a handful of bird seed, peanuts, or bread to the critters, also, as Roy would like.
