Milton, IN – Opal Bryant, 87, passed away Friday afternoon November 25, 2016 at Franciscan Health in Greenwood, Indiana. A daughter of the late Fred and Lillian Naoma (Foster) Phillips, Opal was born in Oatsville (Pike County), Indiana on March 6, 1929. Formerly of Connersville, Opal made her home in Milton for over 40 years prior to moving to Richmond. She has lived in Mooresville for the past year and a half where she enjoyed spending time with her family, including her sister in-law Elizabeth Watkins. A homemaker, Elizabeth had also been employed as a machine operator for Paul Casket Company and retired in 1991 from M.E.G. after 18 years of service. Opal loved spending time with her family, flowers and ripe red tomatoes. She was a member of the Connersville Baptist Temple.
Survivors include 2 siblings, Mazie Miller of Pike County and Basil B. Phillips of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Bryant on June 5, 2005. They were married in Rushville, Indiana on April 19, 1952.; 11 siblings, Ethel Shaw, Rex, Meredith, James Edward, Fern, Ernest, Lucille and William R. Phillips, Gladys McClellan, Margaret Smith and Irene McDonald.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Wednesday November 30, 2016 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastor Jim Noggle will officiate. Burial will follow at the Westside Cemetery in Milton.
