Liberty, IN – Julia M. ‘Judy’ Baker, age 71, of Liberty, died Monday, November 7, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family at her bedside.
Known to all by the name of Judy, she was born October 9, 1945, in Stearns, Kentucky, to Rev. William Jess and Hazel Marie King Neal.
Judy grew up in Spiceland, Indiana, and throughout her life was a resident of Henry and Wayne County, as well as Union County. She met and married Robert E. Baker on June 24, 1972, who preceded her in death in July 2009, after 37 years of marriage. Judy was a loving mother and her family meant everything to her. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking for her family, quilting, camping, and fishing.
Judy was an owner/operator with her husband in the early 1970’s of the Residence in Richmond. After twenty-two years, she retired from Neaton Auto in Eaton, Ohio.
Judy was the fifth born in a family of eight. She is survived by one brother, James (Ruth) Neal of Somerset, Kentucky; sisters, Onie (John) Stecher of Columbus, Ohio, and Anna (Ron) Haler of Morgantown, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Vivian Neal of Richmond and Louise Neal of Somerset, Kentucky.
Survivors include her daughters, Sheryl Neal and Rhonda (Mike) Carlin, both of Liberty, Indiana; sons, Roger (Kathy) Butler of New Castle, Indiana, and David Butler of Williamsburg, Indiana; grandchildren, Hunter and Clay Butler, Cody (Brooke) and Miranda Carlin, Madison and Morgan Butler and Ross (Ashley) and Alex Kilgore; great-grandchildren, Grayson Cook, Celina Carlin, and Noami Kilgore; and many family members and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Baker; parents; brothers, Jesse, Joe, Donald, and Phillip Neal; and nieces, Patricia and Tiffany Neal and Cinea Scales.
Visitation for Julia M. ‘Judy’ Baker will be from12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. James E. Slaven officiating. Burial for Julia, as well as Robert’s ashes, will be in Goshen Cemetery.
