Judge Gregory Horn congratulates Ashley Green after swearing her in as Wayne County’s prosecutor Aug. 28. About 90 people attended the ceremony in the magistrate’s courtroom on the first floor of the courthouse. Green took office Sept. 2, replacing Mike Shipman, who chose not to run for reelection this year. Green released the following statement about taking office:

“I am honored to be sworn in as Wayne County prosecutor this afternoon to complete the remainder of Mike Shipman’s last term. As I am unopposed on the November ballot, I look forward to being Wayne County’s first elected female prosecutor in January 2027. It is truly humbling to step into this role and lead the office. I am committed to seeking justice with integrity and working alongside our law enforcement partners to serve the citizens of Wayne County.”
