Wayne County’s new Long-Term Recovery Group plans to check in with flood survivors via phone over two days to see what they might still need.
Volunteers will call those who’ve reported damage through Indiana 211 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, and Monday, Sept. 28, to determine how many residents still need assistance.
They will call from the phone number 765-312-4699.
Volunteers will identify themselves by name and state that they are from the Long-Term Recovery Group. They will never ask flood survivors for bank account numbers, Social Security numbers or other personal identifying information.
The LTRG is being assembled with representatives from area non-profits, businesses, government agencies, faith-based communities and other organizations to pursue continued recovery efforts. It will help facilitate individual assistance through outreach, funding and resources, disaster case management, and volunteer management.
Group volunteers recently received training to help residents develop recovery plans, advocate for resident needs and make referrals.
