Lady Luck abandons Team Great Lakes in the sixth inning.
Trailing 2-1, Team Great Lakes (Hagerstown, IN) had the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning and no outs, before Nolan Cheeseman delivered a single to tie the game at 2-2.
With two outs, Clark Thornburg hit a flair that would have driven in the winning run, but Team Southeast (Nolensville, TN) shortstop William Santioff made a circus catch to end the threat. Team Southeast went on to score three runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 5-2 win.
Team Great Lakes is still in the hunt for the title, but they will have a short turnaround time. They will face Team Mid-Atlantic (Hollidaysville, PA) in a game scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, that is facing a rain delay.
The game began airing on ESPN, but at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, was being switched to ESPN2.
