The Hagerstown Lady Tiger basketball team participated in the Johnson Memorial Health Classic hosted by Edinburgh High School Thursday, Jan. 2, and Friday, Jan. 3. The Lady Tigers entered the tournament on a 35-game program losing streak and were determined to break their streak of futility. The Lady Tigers fell just short in their first two tournament games before defeating Southwestern (Shelbyville) in the seventh-place game.
Thursday, Jan. 2, opening round:
South Dearborn 38, Hagerstown 37
The Lady Tigers battled the eventual tournament runner-up Lady Knights to the end before losing by a single point. Seven Tigers scored in the game. Havanna Harris led with 10 points. Katee Cowan and Mackenzie Johnson each added 6 points.

Austin 75, Southwestern (Shelbyville) 23
Thursday, Jan. 2, second round:
Indianapolis Tindley 36, Hagerstown 33
In a game that appeared to be headed to overtime, Tindley hit a buzzer-beater 3-pointer to win the game. Seven Tigers scored in the heartbreaking loss. Sydney Brown led with 10 points, Mackenzie Johnson scored 8 points and Havanna Harris added 6 points.

Friday, Jan. 3, championship
Seventh place game: Hagerstown 38, Southwestern (Shelbyville) 33
The Lady Tigers led wire-to-wire to win their first game in 716 days. Six Tigers scored in the game. Freshman Mackenzie Johnson scored 15 points to lead the way. Avery Blunk scored 8 points and Havanna Harris added 6 points.
Fifth place game: Columbus Homeschool 37, Indianapolis Tindley 34
Third place game: Shawe Memorial 51, Edinburgh 29
Championship game: Austin 69, South Dearborn 20
