After the first two weeks of the season there are only three unbeaten teams remaining in Tri-Eastern Conference play: Centerville, Knightstown and Northeastern. The Knights traveled to Lewisville on Friday, Aug. 30, to face Tri High in what many thought would be a tossup game.
The Titans led early 16-0, but the Knights eventually wore them down, scoring the last 44 points of the game in a 44-16 victory.
The Titans stayed on the ground for most of the game and outgained the Knights 234 yards to 135 yards, but Blake Waters had another big game throwing the ball for Northeastern. Waters connected on nine of 13 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns.
Six different Knights ran the ball with Zane Schneider gaining 38 yards and scoring a touchdown. Waters ran for 34 yards, and Colton Creech ran for 11 yards and two touchdowns. Dylan Ross was the top Knight receiver, catching two passes for 101 yards, both for touchdowns.
Schneider led the Knight defenders with a game high of 13 tackles. Isaac Gray had 12 tackles, and Charlie Shaffer had nine tackles.
The Knights will be at Winchester on Friday, Sept. 6, in another TEC clash.
Northeastern (2-0, 2-0 TEC) 0 14 23 7 44
Tri High (1-1, 1-1 TEC) 8 8 0 0 16
