Northeastern hosted the Shenandoah Raiders on Friday, Oct. 3, in their only nonconference game of the season. The game was a high-scoring shootout that was not determined until the final minute of the game.

The Knights held a 14-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Raiders led 28-21 at the half. The Raiders pushed their lead 35-21 before the Knights fought back to tie the game at 35-35. The Raiders went back in front 42-35 in the fourth quarter before Knight QB Marshall Phillips scored on a short run and Trent Deloney ran in a two-point conversion to restore the Knights’ lead at 43-42.

There was enough time for the Raiders to march down the field. On a fourth and goal with under a minute to play, Raider quarterback Jarrett Helman plunged into the end zone from a yard out. Helman ran in a two-point conversion to give the Raiders a 50-43 lead. Time expired before Northeastern could score again. The loss snapped a 15-game regular-season win streak for 2A ninth-ranked Knights. The 50 points allowed is the most surrendered in a game by the Knight defense since the 2020 season.
