The rapidly improving Northeastern football team made the trip north on Highway 27 on Friday, Sept. 11, to beat non-conference Winchester. 

The Knights built a 16-6 lead at halftime before exploding for 28 points in the third quarter, putting the game out of reach en route to a 44-14 win. 

The Knights used a balanced attack to overwhelm the Falcons, rushing for 169 yards and passing for 270 yards.

Sophomore workhorse Luke Billings led the ground game, rushing 26 times for 124 yards. 

Junior quarterback Jarrett Leitner connected on 13 of 18 pass attempts for 270 yards and two TDs. Trent Deloney, who caught six passes for 155 yards and a touchdown, was Leitner’s favorite target. Quanell Denton caught three passes for 87 yards and Gavin Platt also caught  a touchdown pass. Platt anchored the Knight defense with a game high of 10 tackles.
